Heirloom quality, contemporary rugmaker emma gardner design, unveils the Metamorphosis collection. The three statement pieces represent two years of product design and development. The result is a sophisticated line rich in color and texture, made with luxurious wools and silk and great attention to detail.

Award-winning designer Emma Gardner drew inspiration from the natural and man-made worlds. Asian themes, modern art and natural forms are all evident in the designs. “I wanted to create a collection that blended modern simplicity with brilliant color,” said Emma Gardner, principal and creative director, emma gardner design. “While these rugs are visually forceful, they also have an element of play that will ground any room.”

All three introductions: Rainy Day, Organica and Nautilus are made from hand-knotted Tibetan wool and pure Chinese mulberry silk. Rugs are shown in 100 knots per inch with 5 and 5.5mm pile. The yarns are all hand-carded, hand-spun and pot-dyed. For added texture and dimension, silk accents are slightly raised.

Bold colors and splendid patterns define the new offering. Each rug has a corresponding haiku, written by Gardner herself, that cleverly describes the pattern and inspiration, further emphasizing the poetic nature of these signature pieces.

The evocative Rainy Day rug features bands of abstract lines made of raised silk embedded on an all wool background. Saturated hues of blues are intensified with strokes of beige and cream silk.

A dynamic, curvy organic pattern in feverish colors of eggplant and cinnamon, the Organica rug features a multi-colored wool ground overlaid with a finely drawn silk floral.

This lustrous spiral of golds and lilacs is wonderfully hypnotic. The Nautilus rug features a coiled checkerboard pattern of raised silk on a multi-colored wool background.

The introductions are hand-knotted in Nepal and shown in 100 knots per inch. The wool is all hand-carded, hand-spun and pot dyed Tibetan wool finished to a 5mm pile. The silk is pure Chinese silk and cut to 5.5 mm pile giving the rugs movement and luxurious depth. All rugs are made-to-order and available in any size or color possible. Rugs can also be ordered in standard sizes, shapes and colors.
